SYDNEY: LookSmart Alterations looks set to weigh in to the body image debate through an analysis of the importance of tailoring and fit in fashion.

The leading Sydney based tailoring franchise is hoping to re-educate international image-makers on this subject later this month, when it will present to 365 image consultants from over 41 countries at the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Conference in Florida, US.

As guest presenter, LookSmart managing director Abraham Hatoum confirmed he would workshop the notion of customised tailoring with attendees of the annual event, scheduled from May 15 to 19.

"There are over six billion people in the world yet only an average of six standard sizes in a fashion line. Is there any wonder why so many of us suffer from body image issues? Tailoring is critical in achieving the perfect style, because it customises garments to suit the individual figure. I look forward to helping the world’s image influencers educate people on how to make fashion fit bodies, and not the other way around," said Hatoum.

LookSmart’s presentation would mark the first time a tailoring company had addressed AICI international image consultants, confirmed Karen Brunger, AICI president and founder of the International Image Institute.

"Our world-wide members will be travelling to Tampa for specific training in order to advance their image careers. All working image professionals know that tailoring is essential to any successful wardrobe. As one of the world’s leading tailors, LookSmart’s Abraham Hatoum will share his expertise on how to achieve the essential perfect fit for individuals of all shapes and sizes."
