A label with heart

BRISBANE: Women's activewear brand Lorna Jane has revealed plans to release a limited edition Heart Foundation Go Red for Women tee and singlet.

Proceeds from the garments – set to launch this June in readiness for 'Go Red for Women Day' on June 13 - would raise awareness and funds for women’s heart health, a Lorna Jane spokesperson said.

"Most Australians would be shocked to learn that heart disease is the number one killer of Australian women, killing four times as many women as breast cancer. In 2006 heart disease claimed 10,797 women’s lives in Australia — that’s 30 women every day."

Lorna Jane would support the 'Go Red for Women' campaign by donating 50 per cent of profits from the sale of every $29.99 limited edition tee and singlet to the Heart Foundation.

The money would help support research, education and health programs to reduce suffering and death from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease, said company co-founder and creative director Lorna Jane Clarkson.

"As a partner of the Go Red for Women campaign we not only want to help raise funds for the Heart Foundation, but also encourage women to look after the health of their hearts by inspiring them to lead healthy, energetic and balanced lifestyles," she said.
