NEW ZEALAND: A Dunedin-based 22-year-old has gone where few other designers have dared to tread - out bush.

Sarah Macdonald, rugby-playing Otago Polytechnic graduate has developed a range of apparel expressly designed for women who enjoy  outdoor pursuits such as hunting, fishing, tramping and walking.

Boasting a 15-piece collection, the 'Doe a Deer' range includes waterproof seam-sealed jackets in two lengths, T-shirts and dungarees.  Macdonald has also designed a bush shirt made from 100 per cent New Zealand wool and featuring a multi-coloured check designed by Macdonald herself.

Available in sizes eight to 16, price points range from $50 for a T-shirt to $400-plus for some jacket.

Macdonald - who is being mentored through the Dunedin Fashion Incubator - said the pieces, available in sizes eight to 16, will initially only be stocked in New Zealand. However this is expected to change in the near future where she intends designing a range featuring Australian wool for sale this side of the Tasman.
