Industry forum explores nanotech advances
BRISBANE: The ways in which textiles are expected to play a greater role in everyday life will be dissected during an industry forum in Queensland later this week.
The Technical Textiles and Nonewoven Association (TTNA) has teamed with the Australian Nanotechnology Alliance (ANA) and newly formed group Future Materials (FM) to stage the first of its executive technology update series.
Guest speakers include CSIRO deputy chief and science director Bill Humphries who will speak on the use of science and technology to develop textiles for the future. The second guest speaker spot will be occupied by The Science Synchrotron science director Professor Rob Lamb who will speak on nanotechnology and how science can help new new technology - in particular technical textiles.
The event, taking place this Thursday April 17 and staged at the University of Queensland, will be followed the next day by a round table discussion with the federal government's Australian Office of Nanotechnology.
