Nine West recalls eyewear

NATIONAL: National retailer Nine West has been forced to recall a range of its sunglasses after it was found they failed to meet minimum safety standards.

The recall affects all models of the brand's 'Riviera' sunglasses sold between January 1 and December 13 last year.

According to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC), tests conducted on the range of sunglasses shows they did not meet the lens performance requirements of the Australian safety standard for sunglasses and fashion spectacles. The ACCC said they also failed to meet labelling requirements.

As a result of the move, the brand has been forced to advise customers to stop using the sunglasses immediately when driving as their ability to judge the distance of moving objects may be affected.

The brand said customers may return the sunglasses for a full refund.
