NEW ZEALAND: Some of New Zealand's biggest designers have signed up to be trampled over in the lead up to New Air Zealand Fashion Week (ANZFW).

ANZFW 2007 participants Zambesi, Cybele, NomD, State of Grace, Word and Crane Brothers have each agreed to design a unique single edition rug to raise money for their favourite charities.

The rugs, which will never be reproduced, will be sold via a silent auction in August with money raised going to nominated charities including The Child Cancer Foundation, Women's Refuge, Artspace, Save the Children and Hospice.

The Fashion Design Rugs event, which is spearheaded by Designer Rugs in Australia, aims to build on the success of the Australian version which raised over $50,000 for charity. Designers who participated in the Aussie version included Collette Dinnigan, Alice McCall, Akira Isogawa and Easton Pearson.
