MELBOURNE: Some of Australia's best known fashion brands have put aside commercial interests to develop an exhibition that shows off their "artistic spirit".
The week-long exhibition, staged at Melbourne shopping destination High Street, Armadale, showcases the works of a number of labels including Scanlan & Theodore, Ksubi, Arabella Ramsay, Lee Mathews, Kirrily Johnston and Herringbone.
Scanlan & Theodore worked with prominent artist - and former co-collaborator - Darren McDonald for its collection which shows a canvas painting titled freedom exhibited in store together with 200 limited edition numbered print canvas bags given to the first 200 visitors to make a purchase from the store.
For her part, Arabella Ramsay opted to present a video documenting the shooting of her new season catalogue being shot in Apollo Bay, while Lee Mathews worked with florist Joost to create an Australiana garden within her store reflecting Mathews' love for local themes. It includes a mass of birdcages with birds suspended from the windows.
The exhibition runs from today (Februaru 28) to March 09.
