NATIONAL: Australian designers, developers and trainers keen to brush up on their pattern-making skills will soon be able to learn from the best.

The Fashion Technicians Association of Australia (FTAA) is set to host master German pattern-maker Eva Hilliers at its first training program of 2008.

Hilliers, the founding member of the Optimass system of pattern construction and a lecturer in the Department of Textiles and Clothing Technology at Germany's Hochschule Niederrhein University, will conduct a series of six lecturers using the latest German CAD technology.

The sessions, staged March 12 to 14, cover such topis as 'Body to block - women's trousers, the bodice and sleeve, and men's trousers' to 'Pre-production value chain - trousers, blouses, shirts, dresses and men's and women's jackets'.

Hillier will also be available for appointments for individual consulattions to discuss garment fit and workflow methods.
