Hot brides in the city

MELBOURNE: For brides-to-be browned off with white satin, Melbourne's Sofitel Hotel may have the answer.

Sofitel's 'Hot Brides' Runway Show will be presented as part of the L'O'réal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF), which runs from March 2 to 9.

A spokesperson for the event said attendees should not expect white limousines or bridesmaids attired in tasteful oyster silk frocks.

"After hitching a ride through 'Sofi's' lounge on Harley Davidson motorcycles, runway models will keep pulses racing with a selection of unconventional, 'hot' styles designed to inspire [including] a range of lingerie and racy bridal dresses in red, black and citrus tones."

"Plus, for those not interested in something borrowed or blue, the parade reveals leather apparel, plush fur coats and trimmings providing an alternative way for winter brides to stay warm on their wedding night."

Traditional dresses would also be on display courtesy of Melbourne couturiers Linda Britten, Crocé Colosimo, Luci Di Bella and Sonia Cappellazo. The parade would also feature Henry Buck's menswear and furs by Planinsek.

Sofitel's Hot Brides Runway Show would take place in 'Sofi's' Lounge, Level 1 Sofitel Melbourne, on Saturday March 8 at 5.00pm, the spokesperson said. Tickets were priced at $50 per person, including entry to the runway show, canapés and glass of sparkling wine.

Guests would also receive an invitation to Sofitel's 'bridal salon' in the hotel ballroom, featuring table settings, floral arrangements and wedding planning advice from Sofitel Melbourne's events team.
