Change is in the air for RAFW

SYDNEY: The organisers behind Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) have announced details of a new festival set to give much needed promotion to the city's fashion, retail and tourism sectors.

Dubbed the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival, the event is set to follow a format similar to the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival with a specially built showroom, RAFW review collection shows, a retail walk and a fashion arena featuring radio broadcasts, daily promotions, book signings and beauty makeovers.

RAFW organisers IMG Fashion said the festival, staged August 13 to 17, effectively replaces the stalled RAFW Transseasonal Collections which were moved from Melbourne to Sydney last year.

"[RAFW transseasonal] will no longer take the same format. There will be no central venue or infrastructure to present collections, however designers that want to continue to show their wholesale collections for the season will have the opportunity to be part of an official schedule distributed to key buyers and media by IMG."
