SYDNEY: David Jones farewelled one of its longest serving stalwarts in style last night.

Sydney's Royal Hall of Industries at Moore Park played host as Gale took to the runway for her second-to-last catwalk appearance at the department store's autumn/winter 2008 launch in Sydney.

Gale, who has been the face of DJs for at least seven years, has previously announced she intends stepping down from the role to pursue other interests, including acting. She will, however, remain a DJs brand ambassador which will see her more actively involved in the broader business.

Themed under the guise of  "A Japanese story", the venue was transformed into a Japanese winter wonderland with cherry trees lining the 24-metre runway and images of Mount Fuji and Tokyo streets playing on giant screens.

An impressive line-up of Australia's most celebrated designers were showcased on the runway including Alannah Hill, Alex Perry, Alice McCall, Anna Thomas, Collette Dinnigan, Easton Pearson, Fleur Wood, George Gross, Ginger & Smart, Kirrily Johnston, Lisa Ho and New Zealand labels Sabatini and Trelise Cooper with many putting in a personal appearance alongside the event's 600 guests.

Edgy brand Sass & Bide created the spectacular opening while Akira Isogawa snagged the coveted finale, capped off with snowflakes falling from the ceiling.
