NATIONAL: Womenswear specialist Pretty Girl Fashion Group has stemmed its ongoing profit slide.

According to the Australian Financial Review, the James Packer-owned retail group posted a $4.3 million loss for the year ended June 30. This was a marked improvement on the previous year where the company, which owns Rockmans, Wombat, Table Eight and BeMe fashion, posted a $15.6 million loss. Accounts lodged in late December with the Australian Securities and Investments Commissions show the 2006-07 period saw a revenue loss of $193 million, compared with $214 million loss the previous year.

It is believed new management at Pretty Girl Fashion Group helped to stem the downhill profit slide with the company closing 25 retail stores in the past 18 months.
