MELBOURNE: Emerging label Hua is quietly making waves.

The avantgarde womenswear label is to appear at two offbeat showcases coinciding with L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) - which runs from March 2 to 9.

A showcase at Carlton based boutique-cum-salon Milly Sleeping - titled "Brew" and running from February 28 to March 16 - would take Hua's "Neo-Geo" autumn winter 08 range as it's focal point, a Milly Sleeping spokesperson confirmed.

"The range will be a perfect partner to the themes of L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival, with its intricate tailoring, unorthodox geometric volumes and mysterious manipulation of space. Three garments created by [Hua designer] Tam [Hua] will be suspended in mid-air - formed inside out so that the layers, the fusing, the stitches and all the secrets of the garment are on display," she said.

Hua's "Neo-Geo" range will also be the designer highlight at pop up shop Penthouse Mouse from February 23 to March 9. Set in a 3000 square metre warehouse in Collingwood, Penthouse Mouse will feature Hua alongside a spectrum of niche labels including Nique, Skin and Threads, Limedrop, Leonard Street, Vicious Threads, Trimapee, Montlaroc and Pigeon Combine.
