BRISBANE: David Jones has claimed its new Queensland store is on par with the best retail department stores in the world.
In heralding the much-anticipated re-opening of its Brisbane store, the Australian retailer said its refurbished Brisbane store could easily be compared to UK store Selfridges and US stalwarts Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Set to open on February 10, David Jones CEO Mark McInnes said the refurbished store had drawn inspiration from international department store designs and boasts art deco inspired liftr facades and pressed metal as well as VJ ceilings.
It also features 200 state-of-the-art concept spaces - 90 of which are in apparel. Australian brands to feature at the new site include Kirrily Johnston, Zimmermann, Witchery, Sass & Bide as well as international labels such as FCUK, Ben Sherman, Nudie and Ermenegildo Zegna.
Accessories labels include Raymond Weil, Oroton, Mimco, Michael Kors and YSL with a highlight being the first individual instore Chloe boutique in Australia.
McInnes said the refurbishment of QueensPlaza and its recent expansion to Chermside helped position David Jones as a "market leader".
