Fossil forced to recall items
NATIONAL: Accessories brand Fossil has issued a volunteer recall of several styles of its fashion eyewear after being accused of mislabelling the items.
The recall comes after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found the labelling on 17 styles of Fossil-branded fashion spectacles did not comply with mandatory consumer product safety standards.
Had the correct labelling been put on the items customers would have been alerted to the fact the tinted lense items were fashion spectacles -not sunglasses - and had limited sunglare reduction.
It is not known how many pairs of the glasses were sold - however the spectacles were sold nationally by Fossil retail stores between March 2004 and December 2007.
The brand which advertised the recall through major metropolitan newspapers yesterday (January 24), has said it will reimburse all customers who return the glasses either by post or in person.
