MELBOURNE:The issue of occupational, health and safety (OHS) will take centre stage at the Technical Textiles and Nonwoven Association's summer briefing next month.

Staged at the RMIT Textile and Design Specialist Centre in Brunswick, the OHS seminar will serve as introduction to safety requirements in firms today. Co-hosted by RMIT head of fashion and textiles Keith Cowlishaw and TTNA chair Rod McKenna, it will include presentations from three national OHC experts.

Worksafe Victoria representative Francis Zawila will give an overview of company obligations, compliance to the Act and the role of Worksafe Victoria.

RMIT senior health and safety consultant Gary Phillpson will offer an overview of RMIT and outline the challenges of managing safety in a large and diverse organisation.

Qualified safety consultant Les Mapstone will cap off the two hour seminar with an industry perspective on the issue, including the cultural needs of an organisation in managing safety.
