Dowd sleeps with soy
MELBOURNE: Australian underwear and sleepwear specialist Mitch Dowd has jumped onboard the ecological bandwagon.
The Melbourne-headquartered wholesaler and retailer has released a range of eco-friendly products for men, women, children and infants. Available in department stores Myer and David Jones from March, the 'Green by Mitch Dowd' line is manufactured from bamboo and organic cotton using colours such as dusk black instead of black and natural instead of bleached white. Other hues boasting reduced dyestaffs include soft green, dusk pink and brown.
The company, which is also investing in an internal program to make its offices carbon neutral, will extend the organic cotton and bamboo collection with a soy bean range in winter. It is also in the process of researching innovative new materials to further expand its product offering.
"This is great news as it means that we can help protect our environment whilst manufacturing innovative new products that have all the appeal of our conventional range," Dowd said.
