Unzipped - Tim Goodfellow
Name
Tim Goodfellow
Age
26
Position
Ambra brand manager
Salary
Enough to the pay the bills
My childhood dream job
Race car driver, but the closest I've come is playing Playstation
My first job
Staff shop at Holeproof, $6.34 an hour, and if I was cheeky I got put in the bra department, which as a 14-year-old meant no one asked me for help, much to my displeasure
My big break
Knowing the owners of Ambra Corporation, who convinced me it was a good time to make the move
My biggest risk
Convincing my previous company that advertising a finance package targeted at conservative farmers using a pregnant man was the right way to launch. It stirred the pot but luckily it paid off
My proudest moment
Going from the fertiliser/chemicals/explosives industry to working in women's underwear/legwear - it's been tough
My mentor
Very cliché - the person that listens to my weird ideas, teaches me something every day and then tells me why he is right and I am wrong - my dad
If I wasn't in fashion I'd be
The milk delivery guy
My five year plan
Master what Im doing now, then expand, expand and expand for four years, and then retirement
My biggest fashion faux pas
Definitely happy pants, I was no MC hammer
My biggest idea that never took off
All my ideas have taken off - its just that someone else beat me to it
In my spare time I
Like to relax, cook a little, waterski, play golf, go out etc - the same things every 20-something likes
People would be surprised to know I
Am on the board of the Victorian YMCA
If I could do it all over again
I haven't finished doing it to start again
I want my epitaph to say
Grab a shovel and get me out of here
