SYDNEY: Australian womenswear label Mad Cortes has switched ranks.

The Sydney-headquartered brand, which is co-owned and operated by iconic Australian designer Lisa Ho, will shift from department store David Jones to its rival company Myer in January.

Myer apparel director Judy Coomber said the move was part of broader plans to expand the store's portfolio of local and international womenswear brands.

Earlier this year, Jayson Brunsdon also jumped the aboard the Myer bandwagon, expanding from four key city stores for spring/summer 2007 to six for the autumn/winter season.

"This will be one of many announcements we will be making in relation to new fashion recruits in coming months," Coomber said.

Myer will launch New Zealand designer Karen Walker's diffusion label 'Hi There' early next year along with international brands Moschino Cheap and Chic, Theory and Parisian label Paule Ka. The department store is also set to unveil a revamped diffusion line from Australian womenswear designer Nicola Finetti.

"Myer is actively seeking out new Australian and international brands for our customers," Coomber said. "However, at the same time we will continue to review our existing brands to ensure they meet our gross requirements moving forward as a business."
