MELBOURNE: Australian department store David Jones has announced a massive overhaul of its Melbourne operations.
As part of an ongoing strategy to align itself with pre-eminent department stores in London, Paris and New York, the listed company will invest $85 million in a redevelopment of its two flagship sites in Melbourne's CBD.
The redevelopment, which is expected to deliver 30 per cent more selling space for key categories and an increased number of Australian and international brands, will commence in May 2008 and is expected to be completed in time for Christmas trading in 2009.
