NATIONAL: Australian swimwear designer Leesa Fogarty has had the honour of closing a fashion show half way around the world.

The designer behind MaraJoara, the brand that caused a storm of controversy by sending out "healthy-looking" models during Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week, has closed Sarajevo Fashion Week with her luxury, limited edition 'LeesaLu' collection.

The transeasonal range featured pieces that crossed the gymwear, swimwear and eveningwear categories with a bold colour palette of navy, black, white, red and purple.

Delicate French lace embellishments and matching handbags were an ode to the Paris-based designers' new homeland while marine-striped details and the blanket stitch paid tribute to Australia's Year of the Surf
Lifesaver.

Other detailing included blue leather, cream and black belts along with bright berets and turbans.

Forgarty is the only Australian finalist whole will showcase her work along with nine international designers at the 2007 Pernod Fashion Awards on December 4.
