Frock up: QUT's new venture
BRISBANE: The Queensland fashion industry is set to go under the spotlight.
After three months of endless coffee runs, bleary eyes and bouts of writers block, students from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) will release an annual fashion lifestyle magazine, frock paper scissors, focused on local designers.
The 52 page local fashion guide will be distributed - free of charge - in boutiques throughout Brisbane from November 12.
Frock paper scissors editor and QUT postgraduate journalism student Gemma Pulman said the northern region was fast becoming the new epicenter of shopping and fashion.
Pulman said topics covered by the publication would include up-and-coming graduate designers, fashion technology and contentious issues such as the sizing of clothes in Australia. It will also include a "to do" list for Brisbane locals and a shopping guide for the carbon conscious.
"There's a big organic theme with recipes for organic skin and haircare, organic fashion and ethical shopping," Pulman said.
The print publication will be complimented by an online site, www.frockpaperscissors.com, which will feature guides, games and regularly updated information.
