Ragtrader TNT Retailer Awards Goot to go
Josh Goot, the designer synonymous with tailored "body-con" basics for women, will join 200 high-profile industry guests as they toast the achievements of Australia's top retailers.
Goot recently capped off his third successive show at New York Fashion Week and is currently winding down his collaboration with discount department store Target. The designer is stocked in major department stores throughout the world including Myer (Australia), Henri Bendel (New York), Browns (London) and Cara & Co (Moscow).
Ragtrader publisher Helen Davies said Goot was a perfect ambassador for the awards, given he continues to marry solid business sense with creative flair. Davies said Goot was also strong supporter of local fashion, citing his 2005 partnership with Australian Wool Innovation as an indicator of his commitment to industry.
"He champions the use of Australian fabrications and our easy-to-wear ethos on an international scale," she said. "The fact he has such a strong following abroad and yet maintains his local connections really personifies his attitude to fashion."
Judging for the awards night - which includes several categories such as kidswear, men's and womenswear, youth retailer and chain stores - is already underway with interviews and mystery shoppers taking to store floors throughout the country.
Nominees for the award include womenswear label Review, denim and casualwear specialist Just Jeans, streetwear player General Pants and David Lawrence; all of which will battle it out for the large chains category. Small chain nominees include womenswear brand Jigsaw, Feathers and sleepwear king Peter Alexander.
The awards will take place at Sydney's prestigious Doltone House on November 28. Tickets for the award night are available from ragtrader.com.au
