The artists, Amy (Jirwullurr) Johnson, Evelyn Pultara and Maureen (Marrangulu) Thompson -- all of whom have had paintings shown at major Australian art galleries including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin as well as group shows in London and Milan -- have teamed up with CMD founder and designer Catherine Manuell to create a range of luggage and accessories.
CMD had established a licensing agreement with the three artists meaning they would directly benefit from the production of every item made, allowing them ongoing royalties for the duration of production, Manuell confirmed, adding that the collaboration had opened her up "to a world of Australian colour."
"Their paintings were so perfect to me. Exciting and full of colour, I felt the more I looked at any of their pieces, the more I fell in love with the paintings."
Manuell plans to launch the range in Australia, the US, Europe, Singapore and New Zealand, as well as adding one or two new pieces to the range each season.
