MELBOURNE: Womenswear label Feathers has bypassed its native city's habitual spring fashion fever --and therefore this year's horse flu induced slump - by releasing an updated collection based around timeless style. Overseen by founder Margaret Porritt, the Feathers range has been revamped under the skilled eye of designers Lanette Porritt and Belinda Kufersin, resulting in a broader than usual collection typified by discrete stories. Each story was designed to provide a broad array of styling options, Margaret Porritt confirmed, adding the move had spared Feathers the heartache experienced by retailers reliant on spring racing season to boost sales. "We haven't pushed the spring racing theme this year; we've just tried to bring out a range that women really want to wear, and it seems to be working," she said.
