SYDNEY: One of Australia's most prolific eveningwear designers has let the cat out of the bag.

Alex Perry has offered Ragtrader Online a glimpse of what buyers can expect from his autumn/winter 2008 collection, just hours before its revealed at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Heralding a new design direction, Perry will introduce a stronger silhouette for winter 2008 with sharp tailoring and seperate co-ordinates for his ready-to-wear collection. Key pieces include nipped-in tuxedo jackets trimmed with satin or leather; high-waisted and waisted pants in straight, wide and capri leg; crisp white silk ruffled blouses with tied jabots. Black capes, wool coats and 40s inspired pencil and A-line skirts will also be on offer.

Perry's dark palette will be offset with arctic white, gold sequins, violet, licorice green and oyster pink taffeta with accents.

The designer said he will also showcase a collection of frocks for both ready-to-wear and couture clients along with trademark red carpet evening gowns.

Perry's autumn/winter 2008 showcase will kick off at 7.30pm at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney.
