It's a wool thing

Sydney's Powerhouse Museum is known for attracting a curious crowd. And Australian Wool Innovation's (AWI) 'little' soiree to launch the opening of an exhibition celebrating 200 years since Australia exported its first bale of wool was no exception. Pictured enjoying the festivities is AWI chairman Ian McLachlan, designer Jayson Brunsdon and AWI chief executive Craig Welsh.

Peek a boo!

Although sass & bide founders Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke have opted out of New York Fashion Week this year, they've got plenty on their plates to keep them busy. Alongside their new eyewear venture, the pair were recently snapped at the official launch of their collaborative lingerie line with Lovable.

Making a splash

Guests attending Oroton's spring/summer 2007 launch could've been fooled. Sunny weather, the sizzle of a barbeque, the clinking of ice cubes in cocktail glasses - had the first summer wave hit Sydney in July? Staged at the Andrew Boy Charlton Pool Café, the sun-drenched affair featured everything from a runway show to a dance routine to a live musical act. Oroton communications manager Cat Burke (pictured) was among those hanging ten.

New kids on the block

Talk about a match made in heaven. Sydney's premier destination for designer eveningwear, The Strand, recently played host to one of the year's most anticipated eveningwear awards - The Croser. It was a night of couture, canapés and champagne as students from The Fashion Design Studio TAFE NSW battled it out for the top honour. Supre launches in super style

Tween and teen brand Supre celebrated the launch of its Bourke Street Mall store in typically rowdy style : red carpet arrivals, a high-octane runway show and some very loud and very live entertainment hosted by Nikki Osborne. Pictured is: Supre Style Rocks ambassador Roxane LeBrasse, Melbourne deputy lord mayor Gary Singer and Supre executives Nikki van der Meulen and Anna van der Meulen.

Myer Mayhem

Department store Myer kicked off its spring/summer parade with a covetable brand portfolio and a guest list to match. Among those spotted in the crowd were Channel Seven personalities Natalie Barr, Melissa Doyle and Sara Groen, actors Matthew Newton and Gracie Otto and radio personalities Bianca Dye and Lizzy Lovette. Bonds away!

Underdacks brand Bonds brought its latest advertising campaign to life for the official launch of its spring/summer collection. Channelling the global music craze 'Baile Funk', Bonds hauled in a legion of high-energy dancers to boogy the night away at Sydney's Cargo Bar. Pictured is Sue Morphet, Sarah Murdoch and Kate Hann.

Tis (not) the season

Perhaps it was thought of a nice glass of wine, or maybe just the idea of some scintillating conversation. But whatever the reasons, Santa and his sexy helpers managed to wake themselves out of hibernation to make a welcome appearance at Provident Inventory Finance's mid-winter Christmas party at Sydney's Establishment Hotel recently. Pictured is the guest of honour together with Ragtrader national sales manager Shirley Tang.

Rabbit hunting

Finding accommodating launch pads for young fashion types to showcase their work in Sydney is not the easiest task. Enter Fashique, every third Wednesday each month in the hip confines of Ruby Rabbit. If the latest party was anything to go by expect models on pianos, confronting art, well dressed kids mixing among industry types, live bands, and most of all the serious upcoming talent that makes this night a fresh and exciting part of the industry. Pictured is Fashique creators Danielle Smith and Amy Brogan.

CK cred

Where would an aspiring world class city be without global retail brands? The Victorian capital notched up one more on August 8 with the official launch of the CK Calvin Klein outlet. Proceedings opened at 6.30pm at the CK Melbourne Central store, with the flow of beverages ensuring guests felt as slick and beauteous as any one of the brand's ad campaigns.
