That seemed to be the message projected by final-year fashion students at the Croser eveningwear award last month. Staged at Sydney shopping destination The Strand, the gala saw 40 prospective graduates from Fashion Design Studio TAFE NSW take to the stage.

Based on this year's theme 'The World', creations were as outrageous as they were spectacular with African-inspired gowns, lashings of Asian-style silk organza and dark, voluminous Tibetan dresses.

As tough as the competition was, 22-year-old Hayley Adlan walked away with the top prize; her Chinese-inspired puffball gown, made from bright orange silk organza, wowing judges and spectators alike.
