Five Four countdown its Aussie assault

SYDNEY: For a brand that takes its inspiration from the idea of "one love" - the notion of unity among common man - the crew behind Five Four sure are an aggressive bunch.
Set to launch the denimwear brand in Australia later this month, distributor Hussein Chahine alleges that his hard-hitting business sense has already helped move more than 600 pairs of jeans and 500 T-shirts in one week. That's even before the official kick-off date.
And, if that wasn't enough, the fast-talking Chahine is already making bold predictions about a wave of orders from major players in the industry.
"We are being realistic for now and not trying to break records as of yet but we know the big boys will come calling for our product."
Founded in Los Angeles by Andres Izquieta and Dee Murphy in 2002, the brand specialises in complete denimwear collections for both men and women. Made from Japanese fabric, the denim line includes a range of washes, embellishments, trims and details in a slim, straight, boot and relaxed cuts.
While the womenswear line is set to launch in Australia later this year, Chahine confirmed the men's collection would be out in March and include a large range of denim, tees, polos, jackets, hoodies, blazers, business shirts, jumpers and belts.
"We know the demand on good women's denim in Australia and are more than happy to dress the women of high demand in making their asses look right."
Looking to target surf, skate, urban and boutique stores, the debut collection is priced from $60 for tees to $150 for jackets and $240 for jeans. Chahine said given the attention to detail in each piece - the jeans are washed in Los Angeles and made from premium Japanese denim - the price-points are relatively competitive.
"The design team consists of over six individuals who are very particular with detail and inspired by artists such as Andy Warhol."
Chahine also said the brand's ultimate goal would be to service all of the Australian and New Zealand market.
"This will become the biggest denim phenomenon to hit the land down under at the right price."
