Fast fashion backlash

UNITED KINGDOM: Former Topshop brand director Jane Shepherdson, who recently journeyed to Australia, has warned of an impending "backlash" against fast fashion, just days after joining London ethical brand People Tree. Shepherdson said consumers should always question if something is "very, very cheap" and remind themselves that if the consumer themselves isn't paying for it, "then someone, somewhere down the line, is paying". It is understood that one in every £4 spent on clothes in Britain goes on bargain fashion. The news follows Shepherdson's announcement in March that she had set up a Fashion Enterprise Fund with retail entrepreneur Harold Tillman and the London College of Fashion to support new design talent.
