MacLeod horses around with French fashion

If Hannah MacLeod's debut womenswear collection has that certain whiff of je ne sais quoi, then it's with good reason.
The Sydney-based designer just can't get enough of the French.
A fashion design and merchandising graduate of the well-respected Paris Fashion Institute, MacLeod has also worked under one of the country's most revered couture houses - Christian Dior. Although her role was later based within the Australiasian region, the designer said it fuelled her love of Gallic fashion and even inspired the launch of her own label.
"After working and studying in different facets of the industry, I realised I had a passion for design."
Inspired by vintage womenswear collections, MacLeod's debut spring/summer range is largely comprised of natural silk and cotton mini dresses in light, floral shades and subtle trimmings such as lace. Priced from $200 to $400, it is entirely manufactured in Australia with six stockists already confirmed for the coming season.
Still selling to stores within the Melbourne district at the time of press, MacLeod's client list includes Adelaide's LAX, Queensland's Parlour 8 and Milkbar and Museum in Sydney.
Alongside her growing list of stockists, MacLeod has also secured a host of contacts within the media industry and press loans with Cleo<> and Famous magazine. Both are vital to her growth as a newcomer to the Australian fashion industry, she said.
"Being a new designer, it's important for me to get name recognition. Although I'm starting out small, I have the vision to begin a permanent career as a designer."
