Trish Scully wants to dress every kid in the world.
In three years time, the Canadian-based childrenswear designer aims to have launched across five continents, tackled the European market and built a formidable presence in the Middle East.
In the meantime however, Scully has her sights set firmly on Australian retailers. Set to launch her brand - Trish Scully Child - at Sydney's Fashion Exposed in March, the designer said she wanted to build strong product awareness here and find a suitable distributor.
"We are saturated in the US market and looking for growth," she said. "Although we are sold throughout the world, this will be our fourth country where we will have large volume, professional distribution."
Currently stocked in over 600 stores in the US and distributing throughout Canada, Hong Kong and Japan, Scully said the Middle East and Europe would also be next on the agenda.
Specialising in girlswear from sizes 0 to 12, the designer's latest collection includes dresses, skirts, tops and knits in a range of bright flower, matte and paisley prints. Manufactured in China and Bangladesh, it also features delicate trimmings such as hand beading, crochet and lace.
Averaging at around $38 per piece, Scully said the brand is aimed at stores looking to sell "everyday glamour for girls" at a reasonable price.
"Our point of difference is the look we offer for the price point. We tyScully also said that Sydney's fashion-forward retailers in particular would benefit from stocking the brand.
"With Sydney becoming increasingly internationally known for its fashions, it's made it a very attractive city for our launch into Australia."
