Store Wars: Myer fires back with Toni

Toni Maticevski has never been one for imitation.
But in the wake of rampant collaborations between big-name designers and department stores, the Australian stalwart is finally set to follow suit.
Just days after Stella McCartney officially announced her partnership with national department store Target, Maticevski also revealed plans for a new fashion collection with Myer.

Set to debut in-stores over the autumn/winter season, the exclusive collection was sourced and produced by both parties signalling a modest departure from Maticevski's ty. Entirely comprised of dresses in quality silks and chiffons, the line is priced from $499 to $649 and will feature the designer's signature draping and intricate attention to detail. A rich palette of colours, ranging from midnight blacks to creams and navy shades, also signal Maticevski's aesthetic.
Refuting suggestions the new collaboration would cheapen his eponymous brand ? which has featured in major international fashion bibles including US Vogue and Harper's Bazaar - Maticevski said he has maintained his integrity by making it more accessible.

"I love that its still design driven and quality driven. Myer have been so great and freeing to work with."
The launch follows Maticevski's successful participation at the recent New York Fashion Week; where the designer drew a formidable crowd of industry spectators.
The designer said he hoped both ventures would encourage further growth in both the international and domestic markets.
"General reception by the media and stockists to my designs was good and I want to keep the brand in the spotlight to maintain momentum. I'm also really excited to be working with Myer on this special line."
