A New Beginning

It was comparable to watching a toddler take his first, triumphant steps. As the St George Fashion and Design Technology Centre staged its first graduate parade recently, there was an equal mix of pride and nervous energy in the air. Tutors fretted and fussed as fashion students scurried to get their designs together backstage.
In the end, the event - dubbed 'Silken Sprawl - went off without a hitch as swimwear designer Jennifer Stannard was formally recognised for her outstanding, final year project. But to be fair, fellow comrades Amy Oram, Anna Chen and Kasey Cranney didn't leave without their share of standing ovations too.
