Glad Raggers
It seems the general public just can't get enough of watching the guts and glory that is Australian Fashion. Only months after SBS's acclaimed 'Closet Tales' documentary went to air, the fashion crowd was celebrating the launch of yet another fashion expose, Bare Threads. Staged at the Industrie Bar in Sydney, the official party kicked off with wine, beer and canapes before concluding with a sneak peak at the series; which follows the evolution of urbanwear label Tom, Dick and Harry.
In the name of charity
After a whirlwind tour of the Middle East, Aussie designer Camilla Franks got back to her true-blue roots at a charity drive recently. Last month, the infamous queen of caftans helped raise funds for the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation by taking part in an intimate fashion parade at Sydney's Palm Beach Couture boutique.
A sheepish occassion
Sheepskin manufacturer Emu Australia proved its heart was as fuzzy as its slippers during a low-key charity event in January. After raising some $25 000 for its inaugural 'Boots for a Cure' campaign, the company presented an oversized cheque to the CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Sue Murray. The proceeds were raised from the sale of special slippers called 'Pixies' which were stocked in David Jones and Myer during April and May last year.
