Myer scores Bankable menswear
At least that's what renowned UK designer and fashion dynamo Jeff Banks reckoned, following the exclusive launch of his self-named menswear label through Myer stores.
The Jeff Banks range ? designed especially for Myer and the Aussie male market ? features premium quality suits at $599, shirts at $75.00, ties at $59.95, wallets at $49.95 to 69.95 and cufflinks at $39.95 to 49.95. Currently launching across 61 Myer stores across Australia, the full range will be available in the Melbourne City, Sydney City, Bondi and Chadstone branches of the department store.
A renowned fashion icon in the UK, Banks? fashion pedigree started in 1960s London with his own boutique and self-titled label. This was followed in 1975 by the first standalone Jeff Banks store, along with over 20 retail sites including Browns, Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
Banks went on to co-launch famed British womenswear chain Warehouse and establish the forerunner to the British Fashion Council. By the early 1980s he had been awarded British Designer of the Year twice and was regularly consulting with renowned high end designers including Vivienne Westwood and Jean Muir.
He is also well known as the presenter of BBC TV hit The Clothes Show and for his ongoing contribution to British department store Debenhams.
The Jeff Banks at Myer deal was unrelated to Myer and Debenhams? new ?sibling? relationship as a result of sharing a parent in the form of US private equity company Texas Pacific Group, a spokesperson for Jeff Banks confirmed.
?This is a coincidence, Myer was chosen as the Jeff Banks brand sits well within the product mix at Myer and was also chosen as it has stores nationally,? the spokesperson said.
