Keeping cool
NATIONAL: The demand for Australian merino wool continues to grow with US-based Kenyon Consumer Products the latest to sing its praises. The base layer apparel manufacturer has teamed with wool marketing group Australian Wool Innovation to create a new range for its seasonal collections. There are three initial styles in the Kenyon range of Merino thermal apparel including a men's short sleeved top, a men's long sleeve style and thermal bottoms. Colours include sand, navy and black. SYDNEY: A larger inventory of stock and an increasing client base has forced carry bag maker Big Dee Bags away from its home. As of April 10 the company's Sydney showroom will be based in larger premises at 448 Botany Road Alexandria. The brand, which also boasts warehouses in Melbourne and Brisbane, has a heavyweight list of clients including Sass & Bide, Bridgeclimband Hype DC. Hobart drive
HOBART: Entries have opened for Hobart International Airport's Active Outdoor Wear Design Competition, staged as part of Tasmania's annual Antartic Midwinter Festival. The competition is for the best original designs for women's active outdoor wear suitable for cooler climates with the winner receiving prize money of $1500. A second award - for those that utilise wool - is also up for grabs with the winner awarded a complete Icebreaker pure merino layering system valued at $1500. NATIONAL: United Kingdom-based fashion accessories company Switch Sticks has introduced a new range of fashionable hiking poles into Australia. The brand's new range, available from April, are made of high-grade aluminum and combine practical use with high-street fashion design. The brand will also launch three new walking stick designs to coincide with the launch: 'Queen' featuring polka dots with a deep purple base, 'Surf' which combines yellows and turquoise and 'Toffee' with browns, reds, oranges and mustard.
