Flamingo dons winterwear
Releasing to retail for winter 2007 and epitomising the brand's "glamour with a twist" profile, the collection would comprise weekend leisurewear including patio-playsuits, vintage inspired tracksuits, French terry dresses and skirts, velour hoodies, graphic tees for men and women and a small winter sun getaway swimwear offer, confirmed label co-founder Jane Hages.
A colour palette including black, marine, slate, royal blue, chocolate, melon and marine completed the "sporty but sleek aesthetic".
"The look is very sexy and playful, in keeping with the swimwear. We created the clothing range to broaden the brand and give it year round exposure," she said.
The clothing was designed to be comfortable, flattering and easy to layer, she added.
"It's about being able to make that transition from the pool or the seaside to the city."
With prices ranging from around $60 for tees to $200 for playsuits, Flamingo Sands clothing would be distributed alongside the brand's swimwear offer through high-end boutiques nationally.
Launched by Hages and co-founder Nicky Rowsell in 2004 at Sydney Australian Fashion Week and the Victorian winner of fashion launch pad program Mercedes Start Up in the same year - Flamingo Sands swimwear currently holds around 36 boutiques across Australia.
The apparel range and a broader swimwear range - next year's swimwear offer would comprise 30 styles as opposed to this year's 20 strong offer - looked set to see around 20 further accounts added to the brand's stockist base, Hages said.
