Leadtimes slashed for runway trends
The latest 45-minute "Flash Forecast" breakfast seminar, which will showcase and interpret ready-to-wear spring/summer 07 trends fresh from the runways of Paris, Milan, London and LA, has been brought forward from March 2007 to 29 November 2006.
Explaining the advantageous timetable, Fashion International spokesperson Mary Gualtieri said: "We were very aware that it was necessary for designers to start sourcing fabrics for spring/summer 07 at the end of November."
Gualtieri said the schedule would be a permanent fixture.
"From now on we will be showcasing the international Autumn/Winter trends here in June and Spring/Summer trends in November."
She said FGI now had the ability to disseminate international trends for the Australian market within the same month that they were paraded on Parisian catwalks.
Leading womenswear designer Jayson Brunsdon, emerging designer Yekaterina Peker and Sydney Morning Herald fashion editor Patty Huntington will top the billing at the November event.
The seminar will be staged in the Grand Ballroom at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel, and feature an audiovisual presentation of the European and US ready-to-wear spring/summer 07 collections, followed by a panelist discussion on their relevance to the Australian market.
Another major coup for FGI Australia was the announcement in May that it would host the FGI International 2007 Conference - the first time Australia has held the event in the group's 76-year history.
Gualtieri said that the event was "on target" for 15 November 2007.
"The program has been finalised and we have a big surprise in store for the final function," she revealed.
