Australian Loungewear Label hits Bloomingdales

Australian loungewear label Julianne has secured a deal to stock its range of camisoles and slips at Bloomingdales department store in New York. Since making its debut last year, the company has experienced "overnight success" with seven countries and five department stores -including Harvey Nichols in London and Henri Bendel, New York - stocking their designs.
Bloomingdales is set to purchase 75 per cent of the current collection which includes items made from French Leavers Laces and fine silk. Its release will coincide with the unveiling of Bloomingdale's newly-renovated Intimates section in July.
Adamo said the key behind securing the deal was persistence. "We met the company's fashion director Stephanie Solomon at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week last year, followed it up by bringing the collection to New York's Market Week and showed it again to buyers earlier this year in Paris. We also pushed the fact that we'd featured in international titles like UK Vogue."
Adamo said the label's moderate prices would also mean a welcome change for consumers used to pricier labels. "Although we source the same lace as labels like Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Chloe our clothes sell at a fraction of the cost."
Julianne's camisoles are priced between $A100 and $170 while dresses start $A130 and peak at $360.
The deal follows a strong year of sales for the company with 90 per cent of Julianne stores in Australia reordering the current collection and Harvey Nicholls doubling their order after sell-out season.
