Sydney-based licensing brand Hot Springs is looking to introduce some bling to the men's apparel market.
The fashion and lifestyle company has won the exclusive licensing and distribution rights for Los Angeles-based shirting brand 7 Diamonds across Australia and New Zealand.
Established by US retailer Sammie Khalil in 2000, the label was originally set up to offer a point of difference to a global men's sector, at the time dominated by grunge.
Positioned alongside True Religion, Ben Sherman and Howe, 7 Diamonds specialises in men's trimmed down shirt styles made from European fabrications.
Its stockists in the US include department stores Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus and Sacks Fifth Avenue, and boutique stores Lisa Kline, Boogie Dinner, M. Fredrik and Fred Segal however the brand also sells in the UK, Germany and Japan.
Hot Springs managing director Wassim Gazal said the initial licence for the men's range included knits, denimwear and men's blazers with a womenswear line likely to be introduced into the Australian market in time for summer 2007.
Manufactured in India, China and South America, the range will be available at price points of between $100 and $160.
Gazal said he was very excited about the opportunity after watching the brand evolve over the past four years.
"I am encouraged by the brand's ability to sustain its market position in leading specialty and department stores. What is also encouraging is the consistency of good sell-throughs that 7 Diamonds continues to sell - particularly in the US where a lot of brands seem to come and go."
Gazal said the brand would site nicely along the other emerging design talents included in the Hot Spring stable including Mermaid Sister, Milk and Honey, the Andy Warhol Collection and Coast Clothing.
The new range will be available in stores mid-August.
