Aboud picks up the slacks
Moving to expand its range of casual and formal menswear, Aboud Apparel has introduced a new line of shorts and trousers with preliminary plans to expand into knitwear.
Already stocked in more than 150 stores nationwide, the new line was produced in consultation with former Farah managing director Don Lewis and former Bracks national sales manager Robert Davies. Aboud Apparel's division manager Paul Aboud said the pair's combined experience helped the company look beyond its core position as a supplier of men's shirts.
"Men's trousers are a great compliment to our shirt business. For years now we have been asked by the retailers to get into this market and we feel the timing is now right in the market. We feel that trousers are a perfect addition to our stock service range."
The summer 06 collection includes cords, denims, twill, casual pants in a plain and pleated front and wrinkle free soft cotton varieties. The line features a palette of tobacco, khaki, olive, brown and navy fabrics with most designs made from 100 per cent cotton.
Looking to accommodate a wide range of consumers, the label will run standard sizes 77 to 122 with the "big mans business" also running a range from 127 to 152. Prices will start at $79.95 to $89.95 for both varieties.
While planning to expand into men's knitwear, Aboud said the company's core focus would remain on the burgeoning trouser line.
"In the short time we have had the trouser business; it has grown quite rapidly so we are firstly focused on getting the best possible service to the market on this line. However I can say that we are bringing in knits to also coordinate with the pants but you will definitely hear more about this in the future."
