Edgy street label reveals its feminine side

Streetwear label ZANEROBE is set to conquer new ground. Following the steady growth of its menswear line, the brand synonymous for its bold prints and embellishments will launch a womenswear and accessory range later this year.
Earmarked for an early November release, the women's line was developed over a 12 month period and will debut as part of the brand's 'Fantasy League' summer collection. ZANEROBE designer Jonathon Yeo said that the release will mark a new chapter in the life of the brand.
"We've never rushed into anything. We're applying the same methodology as we did for the debut men's collection four years ago - release small, get feedback, apply learning's and grow steadily with confidence. The debut collection is small but very strong and we're extremely proud of the result."
Featuring 24 separate pieces, the women's line will include tees, sweatshirts and athletic shorts priced from $49 to $69.95. Resisting the influx of man-made and synthetic fabrics, Yeo said that all products will be manufactured from 100% cotton.
"I've also been investigating different washing techniques," he added. "A lot of our clothing is made from 100% cotton but it's chemically induced like most brands so we want to use more organic materials. I like the feel and breathability of cotton, it's just a matter of making it more natural."
While the launch of the womenswear line is a top priority for ZANAROBE, the company is also set to debut an accessory collection for men in late December. Featuring messenger bags, duffel bags, high-top shoes and badge embellished caps, the line is priced from $39.95 to $79.95.
"With the accessories, what we did was look at basic products and say, 'how can we make this cooler, how can we make it funkier?'", Yeo said. "So with our high-tops, we used the same fabric as our sweatshirts and just bonded that to the canvas of the shoes. It's keeping it basic, not too tricky but fresh."
