NEW ZEALAND: Westfield Chartwell will launch its extended fashion offer today (October 21) with retailers Country Road and Witchery among the centre's new leaseholders.

The NZ $33 million expansion of the Waikato-region shopping centre has created an additional 7000 sqm of floor space. New tenants include menswear brands Barkers and Rodd & Gunn, accessories store Lovisa, womenswear brands Witchery and Virtu, and Country Road.

Also expanding its fashion offer at the redeveloped centre is department store Farmers, with the New Zealand company having invested in a new two-story, 5700 sqm site.

Westfield New Zealand director Justin Lynch welcomed the 15 new leaseholders.

“The level of interest and subsequent commitment from these leading brands has met our objective of strengthening the fashion offer at Westfield Chartwell,” Lynch said.

The October 21 opening marks the second stage in Westfield's long-term development strategy for Westfield Chartwell, which began in 2005. Construction on the expanded fashion precinct began in January 2010.

Westfield operates a total of 12 shopping centres across New Zealand, and the company values its New Zealand assets at NZ $3 billion.
