SYDNEY: Shopping centre giant Westfield has confirmed the first stage of its new city development will open in late October.

More than 100 fashion and food and specialty stores will open for trade by Christmas in the complex. Other labels include Gucci, Hugo Boss, Stuart Weitzman, Cue, Sportsgirl, Zimmerman and Carla Zampatti.

Key to the launch will be a precinct called 100 Squared, which will be a fashion incubator concept allowing clusters of young designers to have a pop up retail space on level one.

Stage two of the $1.2 billion development is due to open in the second quarter of 2011. This will see international brands Zara, Prada and Miu Miu launch flagship spaces.

The project is expected to be completed in 2012.  It will then be home to over 250 fashion, food and lifestyle stores across 40,000 square metres and seven levels.

To entice consumers, luxury services will be offered, such as fine-dining, a concierge service, hotel and office delivery of purchases and dry-cleaning delivery.

The development is located at the Pitt Street Mall, Castlereagh Street and Market Streets junction, under Centrepoint tower. It connects to Myer and David Jones department stores. It is also adjacent to Sydney Central Plaza’s 80 stores.
