SYDNEY: Menswear brand Van Heusen has launched a recycled shirting range to coincide with Clean Up Australia Day.

The Van Heusen Eco range is entirely produced from recycled PET bottles and is available through David Jones department stores. It also retails online for $50 through vanheusen.com.au.

Divisional manager David Holmes said approximately three to six 600ml plastic bottles are used to produce every metre of fabric.

"The technique employed to produce the fibres for the Eco shirt significantly assists in reducing landfill globally."

The shirt will be available in white, black, navy and silver with sizing ranging from 38cm to 46cm in the brand's signature European fit.

Van Heusen has employed West Tigers sporting star Chris Lawrence as part of its campaign to promote the new venture.
