NAME
Chelsea De Luca
SOMETIMES PEOPLE CALL ME
Very boring, Chels.
I EARN A CRUST BY
Designing vintage inspired costume jewellery.
JUST BEFORE I ANSWERED THESE I WAS
Sipping on my third coffee for the day.
MY WORST HABIT IS
I have a few.....happily drinking the same coffee over several hours, setting alarms throughout the day to keep me on schedule - drives people crazy.
IF I WERE A FASHION ITEM I'D BE A
Gob-smacking larger than life vintage deco brooch because - I adore this era, I would see many travels pinned on the gown of my owner, I am like a bowerbird and love a little bit of sparkle, and hopefully I'd be pinned on a chest with a very big heart.
WHO I'D LIKE TO BE IF NOT ME
Edith Piaf or Karl Lagerfeld as they both have such a strong character, and are bold, confident and have an amazing talent and their extraordinary drive and passion I find very inspiring.
PEOPLE TELL ME I'M
Loyal, impatient, and eat a lot for a small person.
MY WARDROBE FAVOURITE IS
A vintage maxi dress in a gorgeous black & tangerine floral print that was my Mum's that she wore in the '70s.
IF I COULD BANISH ONE TREND IT WOULD BE
Crocs for adults - they just don't work on big feet. And smoking cigarettes - the smell, it ages your skin, causes yellow teeth and nails and it's bad for you.
MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY ARE THE NATION'S FASHION CAPITALS BECAUSE
Both for different reasons - I love Melbourne for its glamorous understated European style with great one-off designs, while Sydney for its beaches. It also has a rock star element but with a casual vibe.
MY BIGGEST SPLURGE WAS
Recently a Collette Dinnigan ostrich feather skirt which I adore.
MONEY CAN'T BUY HAPPINESS BUT
It can certainly make things easier.
I'VE NEVER TOLD ANYONE THIS BUT
The first song that I could sing was Que Sera Sera (that I still know all the words to), that my Dad used to sing with us on long trips when we were young.
WHEN DOWN TO MY LAST $1000 - TOM FORD OR TARGET?
Tom Ford because he is hugely talented and revived Gucci, bringing back the polished, chic, dressed up man.
WHAT THIS INDUSTRY NEEDS IS
As much support as possible. Continued government support for the long-term future growth of the Australian Fashion Industry.
