AUCKLAND: Budding designers have the chance to make their mark alongside one of New Zealand's best design exports. Leading designer Kate Sylvester is on the look out for a right hand man (or woman) to work alongside her across the Kate Sylvester and Sylvester brands. The Kiwi designer, who has stockists across Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore as well as her own standalone stores in Sydney, is seeking a new head design assistant following the departure of Sally Bridge who is believed to be on maternity leave. Adidas' side swerve
SYDNEY: Sportswear colossal Adidas is set to open a new flagship store in the space being vacated by high-end designer brand Ralph Lauren. The 580sqm-site, in the heart of Sydney's Pitt Street Mall, will be the second Sydney store for the brand with its Adidas Originals store opening late last year in the QVB. It is understood the store will open in September.
Sails ahoy! for Gill
SYDNEY: Yachting Australia has appointed sportswear label Gill as the 'exclusive clothing supplier' for the Australian Sailing Team. The two-year, three-season contract will see the company supply a range of technical sailing clothing and team uniforms for the athletes, coaches and support staff in the lead up to the 2008 Beijing Olym
AWI eyes India
SYDNEY: Australian Wool Innovation has opened a new office in New Delhi, India and appointed two permanent staff members to develop business relations in the region. With offices already in Shanghai, New York and Hong Kong, AWI is looking to build demand for Australian Merino Wool in India by appointing Debabrata Chakraborty as product marketing manager and Pankaj Verma as product development manager.
F.Rock flavour
SYDNEY: A six-month mentorship with Fashionassassin designer Alex Zabotto-Bentley is among the prizes up for grabs at the upcoming second annual F.Rock fashion festival. The two-day event, an initiative of the Northern Beaches Fashion Collective, aims to showcase up-and-coming fashion designers from the area through a range of parades and fashion shows. Judges for the September 14 - 15 event, following the theme of international travel, include Zabotto-Bentley together with fellow designers Jason Checuti and Nik Philpott. Blundstone gets angry
SYDNEY: Blundstone has appointed Angry Anderson as the face of its workwear label. Front man for the Rose Tattoo rock and roll band, Anderson was said to be appointed for his "tough as nails, hard rock image". As part of the new alliance, the company has also announced it will be working on a public awareness project with full details to be released at a later date.
