SYDNEY: High-profile fashion designers Marnie Skillings and Kym Ellery have singled out Giselle Costemalle as a talent to watch.

Skillings and Ellery, together with bridalwear maestro Steven Khalil, bestowed the young designer with top honors at the 2009 Tessuti Awards.

Staged annually by Surry Hills-based textiles retailer Tessuti Fabrics, this year's awards program took place at fashion college Esmod and was split into two categories; 'Smart Daywear/Evening Wear' and 'Vintage Little Black Dress'.

Costemalle took out the latter category, winning a return trip to Paris and a visit to Esmod headquarters in France. Final year design student Isabelle Kim, who takes her design inspiration from Japanese history, was the winner of the former title.

Tessuti Awards are open to customers, fashion students and sewers.
