NATIONAL: Wesfarmers, the listed group in charge of Target and Kmart among other major companies, has announced an increase in revenue and earnings for the financial year to June 30, 2009.

It reported a group operating revenue of $51 billion and a group profit after tax of $1.5 billion, up 44 per cent on the previous year.

It announced total revenue for Target, which stocks men's, women's and children's apparel and footwear, was $3.78 billion, up from $2.19 billion the previous year. Target's EBIT was reported as $357 million, up from $221 million in the previous year.

It announced total revenue for Kmart, which also stocks apparel and footwear, was $3.99 billion, up from $2.45 billion the previous year. Kmart's EBIT was reported as $109 million, down from $111 million the previous year.
